Karen Herzenberg - Expedition Team Member

After several years of competing in triathlons, Karen quit her job in 1996 to take a six week training break, cycling in New Zealand while training for the NZ Ironman.  Qualifying for the World Championships, Karen competed in Hawaii in 1997.  Due to an injury, she turned to cycling full-time for a period of two years.  After returning to her native Canada, wanderlust got the better of her, and she moved to Alaska in 1999, where she works as an architect, but keeps her focus on climbing and mountaineering.  She has since been on mountains all over Alaska and the Northwest, including Foraker, Hunter, Kennedy, and peaks in the Chugach, Wrangell, and St. Elias ranges.
