Risk Assessment

Risk assessment is already underway and will continue throughout the expedition. Communications will be managed through a satellite phone, and we will also have an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon). All members are thoroughly familiar with avalanche safety and glacial travel and crevasse rescue, and practicing rescue techniques will be an integral part of acclimatization. We are currently inquiring with the Chinese Military, which has been active in the region in the past, to investigate what backup options, emergency rescue, and MedEvac strategies it can offer.

Communications will be managed through a satellite phone, and we will also have an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon). Help from any overland vehicle will be several days away, and the nearest aircraft will most likely be unable to reach us above 5000m so far from the nearest airfield.
