Food & Equipment
The
logistics of bringing nine people into one of the world's most remote
lands outside Antarctica will most certainly prove the biggest headache of
this expedition, barring potential altitude-related disasters. To
arrange food and equipment for up to a month will be difficult enough, to
do this for nine people in Xinjiang, and then arrange suitable transport
will be the greatest challenge.
Because we will not besiege any high peaks Himalayan-style, we will be able to avoid the additional weights of fixed ropes and extra pickets and ice screws. Base camp will be kept simple in the interest of both weight and economics. There will not be large cook tents lined with tables and chairs for the Great White Mountain Hunters. We will abide by the low impact tenets of Leave No Trace camping, and to this end, we will travel as light as possible.
Equipment manufacturers and funding organizations would benefit from this opportunity to sponsor a group of highly motivated amateur mountaineers who will showcase equipment in the extreme conditions of the remote Kunlun Shan. This exciting and unique adventure will generate publicity through magazine articles, websites, and of course product catalogues, returning a sensible yield for the sponsored investment.
